Alessia Cara is set to retake the top spot this week as her breakthrough hit, "Here" overtakes
Elle King's three-week reign. Cara previously held the crown last year for the week ending December 5 but was quickly ousted by
Ellie Goulding's "On My Mind" which held the crown for six nonconsecutive weeks.
Gaining the 3rd position this week is
Justin Bieber with "Love Yourself," powered by its taking the top spot at the US charts. It is also still doing well in the UK charts and is projected to continue its rise to #2 next week if not to #1.
Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods" continues its rise as it hits #7 this week. It performed marginally better in the US charts but it's still not sure whether it's still touted to continue its ascent in the country since its sales are not doing very well, given the fact that a lot of people have already bought its parent album, "1989."
Just below Swift,
Rihanna and
Drake's "Work" is expected to rise to #8. The song has been doing well in both the US and the UK, and its unexpected entry into the US charts at #9 gave this song a considerable boost this week. At this rate, it is almost locked to enter the Weeklist's Top 5 very soon.
Meanwhile,
The 1975's "The Sound" is expected to finally break into the Top 10 after holding its position at #13 last week. Whether it reaches #9 or #10 will depend on how well it fares in the UK charts.
Selena Gomez' "Hands To Myself" is currently set at #15 this week, up two spots from its debut position last week. No new entries are expected to break into the Weeklist, since none of the new songs gained enough points to overcome Selena Gomez' "Same Old Love" which is currently holding on at #20.
One Direction's "History" is currently at #21,
Fall Out Boy and
Demi Lovato's "Irresistible" is at #22, and
Little Mix's "Secret Love Song" featuring
Jason Derulo is stuck at #23.
