Chart Geek: Weeklist #10 Predictions

It's neck and neck for the top spot this week as Alessia Cara's "Here" is primed to overtake Elle King's "Ex's & Oh's." It will all depend on the UK charts. Last week, Alessia Cara is ahead of Elle King in the UK charts but the latter has experienced an unexpected surge in UK points recently so it is possible for their ranking to be reversed. At this point, it can be anyone's game and we'll just have to wait and see.

It's neck and neck between Cara and King for the top spot.

Adele's "Hello" is currently slotted for #3, up one position from last week. With the lack of strong competition, this song still has a chance of snatching the crown even though it is falling down the charts worldwide.

A few ranks below, Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" may overtake Gwen Stefani's "Used To Love You" at #5. Bieber is currently gaining worldwide and is expected to reach the top 3 soon, while Stefani's song has surprisingly fallen off the US charts this week and hence gained no votes from there. It seems that Stefani's chances of rising higher in the charts came to an earlier end.

Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods" is expected to reach #9 this week, up one position from last week. Although slowly gaining momentum in the US, the song is having a hard time reaching upper spots in the weeklist because the older songs are not falling fast enough due to their points being significantly higher than the newer songs. Perhaps in another couple of weeks, it might crack the top 5.

Bieber and Swift inch closer to the top.

The highest debut last week, "The Sound" by The 1975, is slotted for positions 12 or 13, up against Major Lazer's "Light It Up." Both of these songs are currently hot in the UK, and their performance in that chart will have a profound effect on their weeklist rankings. The 1975 reached a higher than expected #15 position in the UK charts last week and this propelled "The Sound" for its lofty debut.

Meanwhile, the anticipated highest debut this week, Rihanna's "Work" is currently slated for #16. It's still not clear if it can appear in the UK charts, having been released only very recently, but if it does it can easily overtake DNCE which is at #15 at the moment.

Another expected debut, Selena Gomez' "Hands To Myself" is hovering at the #17 position while her other song, "Same Old Love" is expected to fall to #18 this week. "Hands To Myself" is gaining a lot of support from the US charts, and this should help it rise higher in the coming weeks.

Rihanna and Selena Gomez expect big debuts this week.

Things are a lot less stable at the fringes of the weeklist since there are a lot of new songs wanting to gain entry but not enough old songs falling off the charts. Fall Out Boy's "Irresistible" is currently at #20 but similar to what happened last week, its competition, Coldplay's "Adventure of a Lifetime" will probably bump it out of the weeklist since Coldplay's song is still quite big in the UK.

Other hopefuls just outside the Top 20 include One Direction's latest single, "History," which just got a video and Little Mix's third single off Get Weird, "Secret Love Song." Both acts are big in the UK and it will be interesting to see whether they could compete with the other US-based acts in the weeklist.
